The Himalayas - where earth meets sky
Indian Himalayas - Ladakh

Burtsa
Burtsa lies north of Murgo in northern Ladakh and is located on one of the highest trade routes in the world for Yarkand in Central Asia. It is situated at a height of 15,000 ft and is about 24 km from Murgo. It is a camping site.

The landscape of Burtsa is characterized by sedimentary rocks whose layers exhibit distinct folds due to geological pressure. This unique formation clearly indicates that the Himalayas have emerged out of the deep sea in the ages called "Tythes geocyncline". The typical fossilized round stones found in plenty here are different in shape than those found in the Central Himalayan regions.

Daulat beg Oldi
Daulat Beg Oldi is the place where Daulat Beg died. He was possibly a rich Yarkandi nobleman who perished after the rigours of the descent from the Karakoram Pass.

Digar La Pass
This pass also connects Leh to the Shyok (Nubra Valley). It is situated at an elevation of about 6,000 m. The Digar La pass remains open for a longer time than the Khardong La pass. It is relatively easier to cross, though the route across the pass is longer.
