Inner Sanctuary
The Inner Sanctuary bears similarity to a wrong way around letter E, with the middle strokes made up of the twin peaks of Nanda Devi -- the main and the east peaks. The other formidable peaks which form the other strokes of the letter include Latu Dhura (6,392 m), Sakram (6,254 m), Bamchu (6,303 m), Deo Damla (6,620 m), Mangraon (6,569 m), Kalanka (6,864 m) and Changabang (6,864 m). Towards the south lie peaks like Maiktoli (6,803 m), Devtoli (6,788 m), Devistan (6,678 m), Panwali Dwar (6,663 m) and Nanda Khat (6,611 m).

Outer Sanctuary
The outer bastions of the Nanda Devi Sanctuary are easier to enter. This is the reason why thry have provided rich pasture ground for shepherds for centuries. Many high Himalayan peaks lie on the outer rim as well. These include Ronti (6,063 m), Nanda Ghunti (6,309 m), Trishul (7,120 m), Bethartoli Himal (6,352 m), Hanuman (6,075 m), Dunagiri (7,066 m) and Mrigthuni (6,855 m).
