Ancient Civilizations: Ethiopia

INTRODUCTION

Ethiopia was a rich and powerful kingdom located in north east Africa. Ancient Ethiopia as it was known was derived from the Greek word for 'sun burnt skin'.

The history of Ethiopia goes back thousands of years to the legend of Queen Sheba and King Solomon. Also Ethiopia has one of the oldest churches in the world that dates back to one of the early periods of Christianity. In its relative isolation in the highlands Ethiopia developed a culture and history unlike any other.

It history is also richly documented in chronicles of Kings and in beautifully written historical accounts. The history of Ethiopia still lives on through the land and through the people.
