Gujars
The Gujars are a migratory tribe originally from Afghanistan and the North West Frontier Province of Pakistan. They rear animals and sell their milk and milk products for a living. Gujars are primarily nomads who move with herds of cattle from one place to another, with the migration largely coinciding with the seasonal changes. Gujars inhabit many parts of the western Himalayas, but the community visits only few areas of the drier parts because their main animal -- the buffalo -- is unable to cope with the extremes in climate found in these regions.
