Africa in History

Africa: Africa in History

Because the African peoples south of the Sahara had no written language, there are few records. And these records have been horribly distorted by the needs of the colonial powers to demonstrate their superiority and prove that they were bringing civilisation to Africa, an Africa that had no civilisation of its own.

It is very important to try and uncover the history of Africa, to show that the continent has a great and wonderful past. There is poverty and corruption and danger, like in Europe at the end of the Middle Ages. Europe went back to study its origins in Rome and Athens in order to find a way to rebirth, the rennaissance. Africa too needs to go back and find meaning and pride in its past so that after the ravages of colonialism, the African rennaissance can begin. 1    2    3     4
