For a chance to watch animals like the elephant, lion, leopard, buffalo, black rhino, antelopes, hippo and the eland in unspoiled, remote surroundings, the Mana Pools National Park may well be an ideal destination. It is situated in northwest Zimbabwe and covers about 2,200 square kilometers of land mainly consisting of open grassland and mixed woodland. The park is open to visitors from 1 May to 31 October. Visitors can stay at four camps in the park. Accommodation offered ranges from fully furnished lodges to sleeping huts. Fishing is allowed in the park, while game viewing drives and game walks are provided for a chance to catch a glimpse of the animals. Visitors need to take measures to protect themselves against malaria, bilharzia, tsetse fly and crocodiles. It is advisable to boil or treat all drinking water before consumption.
