The Sumbu National Park is located on the shores of Lake Tanganyika, and covers an area of 2020 square kilometers. Much of the land includes woodland and open grassland. The park is open to visitors throughout the year. Visitors can stay at chalets at the nearby Kasaba Bay. Moreover, there is a network of game viewing roads, fishing, boats, and fishing gear for hire. Some of the wildlife observed at the park includes the buffalo, lion, leopard, elephant, puku, hippo, and roan, sable, waterbuck, and other antelopes. Precautions need to be taken against malaria, and protective measures against the threat posed by crocodiles.
