Centre for Mathematics, Science and Technology Education in Africa is a centre established in Kenya to offer in-service education in mathematics and science. in-service education and training in Mathematics and \sciences began in 1998 with the aunch of tengthening Mathematics and Science in Secondary Education (SMASSE Project). SMASSE Project was a joint Technical Cooperation between the govenment of Kenya through ministry of Education and Government of Japan through JICA.

 

SMASSE Project was successfully piloted in 15 districts in Kenya and later scale up to a national phase 92003--2008). Other African countries have also benefited from SMASSE activities through Third Country Training Programmes (TCTP), Third Country Expert (TCE) Services, On-the-Job Training (OJT) ans SMASE-WECSA Regional Conferences. Currently, CEMASTEA has brought primary education on board and is laying strategies and developing lessons on ICT integration in mathematics and science education
