Introduction

CLASSROOM

Lesson 2

Download some of the music clips from different parts of Africa in the interactive section.

Ask the students to put their heads on their desks and close their eyes and listen to the music. When it is finished, ask them to write a few lines about the person who played the music. Then ask them to exchange their pages, and ask students to volunteer to read if they think have caught the spirit of the music.

Now ask the students to read the reports on the Peoples of Africa at http://library.thinkquest.org/C002739/AfricaSite/LMPeopleIntro.htm, and see if they can find out where the music came from. They should try and match up sounds and descriptions.

It does not really matter whether they are right or wrong, but they should be allowed to explore the site. Ask them to have read all the Peoples reports by the next lesson.
