Castro has held power since 1959, when his revolution overthew Batista.  Despite U.S. opposition, many say that his Communist government has greatly improved Cuba.

Fidel's brother was an early revolutionary leader stands as a potential successor to Fidel.

Camilo Cienfuegos was an extremely popular revolutionary leader.  He disappeared in a plane accident in 1959.

Guevera was an important guerilla revolutionary in Latin America. He fought with the Cuban revolutionaries and joined the government.

Frank País lead the part of M-26-7 that remained in Cuba after Fidel Castro left.  He made successful attacks, but was killed by the police.
