Within and below the canopy there is a variety of plant and animal species . These forests  make up about half of the Earth's total forested area and contain more plant and animal species than any other natural habitat. Flowering plants, or angiosperms, dominate the rainforests. Although many species are unique to each area , others can be found throughout the tropics. For example, Leguminosae (especially the sub-family Caesalpinioideae), Euphorbiaceae, and Rubiaceae. (These are merely scientific names) Wildlife is diverse(different)  and abundant(plenty) and includes monkeys, chimpanzees, gorillas, antelopes, lions, and elephants, as well as numerous species of birds and snakes.
