Module 3 - Adapting and using WebQuests (With Internet)

n this day-long workshop you will develop your own WebQuest. You will learn about the most important elements of a WebQuest, share ideas and give each other feedback as you proceed.
By the end of this task you could achieve the following outcomes:
- Evaluate key areas of a WebQuest.
- Identify how WebQuests can be improved to suit your own needs.
- Adapt WebQuests for classroom use.
- Prepare to use WebQuests in the classroom.

1 |
Orientation (30 min)
- Listen to the faciliator outline the 4 Rules for writing a great WebQuest offline (15 min).
- Meet as class.
- Pool your current knowledge and understanding of WebQuests by discussing the article. Use the following questions as your guide: (15 min)
- what are the most important elements of learning in a WebQuest?
- what must I consider as I start planning a WebQuest.

Finding a WebQuest (45 min)
- Work on your own.
- Read the article: Selecting a WebQuest Project
- Decide on a WebQuest topic that you will find useful for use in your class.

3 |
Task (60 min)
- Meet in pairs.
- Discuss your WebQuest topics and possible tasks (20 min).
- Read the "taskonomy" and view the examples applicable to your WebQuest task.
- Use this knowledge to discuss the task of your proposed WebQuest.
- Working on your own, open the WebQuest template and write the task (30 min).
- Pair and share your task with your partner. Give each other feedback (10 min).
- Consult the task section of WebQuest rubric and rate your tasks.

Assessment (45 min)
- Work on your own.
- Identify what you will assess in the WebQuest. Do not forget your assessment standards, but also consider other skills related to the process and product.
- Compete the assessment section of the template (30 min).
- Meet in pairs.
- Review each others' assessment, using the assessment section of the WebQuest rubric (15 min).

Process (120 min)
- Meet in new pairs.
- Discuss the process of the WebQuest (30 min):
- View the process checklist to identify the most important elements of the process.
- Identify the main steps of the process.
- Identify the main learner support elements
- Identify the resources
- Working on your own, write your WebQuest's process (60 min).
- Meet with our partner and review each other's WebQuest process using the process section of the webQuest rubric. Make necessary changes (30 min).

Introduction and Conclusion (45 min)
- Work on your own.
- Complete the Introduction and Conclusion sections.
- Add graphics where appropriate.
- Meet in new pairs
- Review each other's WebQuest introduction and conclusion using the relevant sections of the webQuest rubric. Make necessary changes

Finer Points (remaining time)
