The Malecón
Havana's most important street is the Malecón. Work on it was first started by the military government of US General Wood. Now, this long street along Havana's seafront is visited by nearly everyone. People come out to drink rum at night, as the waves splash over the wall. The large houses that were built here have now lost their paint and many are crumbling. There are some efforts going on to rebuild these buildings.
