Create a presentation template for learners (Intermediate level)

As an educator, you will be able to save yourself time by creating templates for presentations that can be used over and over again and by different learners. This will help the learners to structure their presentations. For example you can help learners by creating a PowerPoint presentation that includes your step by step instructions to learners on slides that can be hidden from view in the final presentation. There are many uses for such presentation templates such as project or task instructions to learners, reports, formal presentations.

By the end of this task you could achieve the following outcomes:

Download an example - Create a basic presentation
- Using the hide slide feature for learner support
- View the presentation in outline and play modes
- Creating a presentation template

Create your own presentation template - one which you will find useful. Alternatively, follow this example. To do so you would typically work through the following steps:

1. Start Microsoft PowerPoint. See how »
2. Use the outline view: Type an instruction on each slide - each instruction refers to what the learner should place on the following blank slide. See how »
3. Save the presentation: Remember to save your work regularly. See how »
4. Insert new slides: In between each slide of instructions insert a new slide. Leave these slides blank so that learners can complete them by following the instructions given on the previous slide. See how »
5. Hide slides: Use the hide slides function to make your instruction slides invisible when the presentation is played. See how »
6. View the Final slide show: Check the final presentation template to ensure that the slides are all properly hidden and that the instructions are accurately placed. See how »
7. Save the Microsoft PowerPoint file as template: To use this presentation for other projects by just changing the instructions, save it as a template. See how »
