Grade 2

Bunny Readers

This is the third time we have participated in one of Susan Silverman's projects.  We hope you have speakers to listen to the music as you view the Bunny Readers site!  The girls have made a valuable contribution.

Travel Buddies

Browser at Cannelton School, Indiana, USA (1999)

Travel buddies are soft toys or glove puppets that travel the world as representatives of a class. The travel buddy goes home with a different child each day and a diary is kept. The project enhances cross-cultural experiences, friendships are made and the children learn about the history and geography of other places. Browser, a soft toy rhino is Grade 2's travel buddy. We send him to a school in a different country each year and we host a buddy from them.

Browser went to Haarlem in the Netherlands and Lady came to stay with us (1998)

Browser arrived back with a diary about his adventures in Haarlem, written in Dutch!

Collaboration with a school in Australia (1998)

A request for information about rhinos came from Elanora Heights School in Sydney, Australia.  As Grade 2 had learnt all about rhinos they were happy to send an e-mail reply.

[Grade 2]
1997 Grade 2 Class

We sent "Browser", a rhino, to Alta Elementary School in California, USA.  We made him a passport packed him and he flew there. In 1996 Browser went to Anderson's Creek Primary School in Victoria, Australia. As you can see he is a very well travelled rhino.
