Irrigation

The silt deposited along the banks of the Nile in Egypt has been left by the floods over centuries. This has resulted in a rich soil that supports agriculture along the banks of the river. Ancient Egyptians are believed to have been the first to use irrigation to grow their crops. A practice that continues today, although the methods have been modernized.
