9. Publishing your site

You can publish your site at any stage during website creation. Some people like to publish and update the site and test all new additions online. Others prefer to wait until the basic site is populated with content before publishing.

Publishing means uploading all the files to a web server. From the web server any person on the Internet will be able to access your website.

Follow these steps to complete these activities. Look for contexts that are meaningful to you in your classroom.

Work on your own (30 minutes).

• Set up your connection to the web server.
• Upload your web site's files.

How to publish a website

• Check all the links and pages of your website with a partner
• Make corrections to errors that you may find
• Give each other feedback

Meet as a class (30 minutes).

• Showcase your website
• View the sites of your peers and give them feedback on their sites
