Over the years SchoolNet has managed four large teacher development programmes using different teacher professional development models:
- The Educators Network – up to the end of 2009 – blended but predominantly online in peer groups with an online mentor
- The Commonwealth of Learning Certificate for Teacher ICT Integration (CCTI) – since 2009 – 100% online in peer groups with an online mentor
- Intel Education – the initial model was face to face implementation of the Intel Teach to the Future programme followed by a range of Elements courses – blended and self-study and including advanced apps for thinking skills
- Microsoft Partners in Learning – started in South Africa in 2005, included materials development in French and Portuguese and ranging from basic skills to innovation levels
- Membership Programme of free online professional development and participation in an online professional learning community
All programmes include world-class materials that have either been developed from scratch, versioned or localised by SchoolNet SA. This materials development is based on established best practice principles
SchoolNet courses are aligned to the national policy frameworks
and since 2017, more specifically aligned to the national Professional Development Framework for Digital Learning

While some programmes are now being offered by some Provincial Departments of Education, SchoolNet SA also offers training to schools that are not part of their Department training schedule. Costs of these courses are minimal.
