Did You Know?

A child who weighs 28kg on Earth would weigh less than 5kg’s on the moon.

The gravitational pull of the moon can cause the North American continent to rise 15 cm when the moon is above it.

The moon’s gravity is one sixth of the earth’s gravity, so people can jump six times higher on the moon than on the earth.

The moon travels around the earth at 3680 km/h

No one is certain how the moon was formed. Astronomers believe that the Earth collided with some kind of body, the size of Mars. From the collision material heated up and was flung into space to later become the moon.

Galileo invented a telescope with which he saw mountains on the moon and also said that the Earth moves and the sun stands still and because of this he was put under house arrest for the rest of his life.
