Bulbinella latifolia var. doloritica. This photograph was taken at Niewoudtville by Suzanne's daddy. Suzanne is in Grade 3 Strelitzia reginais known as the Crane flower because it looks like our National bird, the Blue crane. It is a very popular flower in Los Angeles and San Francisco. It was named after Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz - Queen of England. Dimorphotheca castatis nudicant. Its common name is Wilde wit Magriet
 
Arctotis fastiosa. This flower is one of the most famous of the fynbos plants. It is the provincial flower of the Western Cape and is known as the Pride of Table Mountain. Its scientific name is Disa uniflora.

Mesembryanthemaceae. Their common name is "vygies" (little figs). These flowers are found all over South Africa in open sunny areas. They are very easy to grow. The peak time for flowering is spring (September).
Sheep feed on most of the dead flowers of all wild flowers. Some are poisonous at certain stages but animals usually know this and avoid them.
