Penguins

We have learnt a lot about penguins.  African penguins (Jackass penguins) are now found breeding on the mainland of South Africa instead of islands because of the drop in food supply.

The great white sharks are being killed.  Now there are too many seals and they are eating the fish and so there is none left for the penguins.  They have come to the mainland where there is a better supply of food.  People have realised that they should be protected.  In places like Betty's Bay and Boulders they are being protected.
The South African National foundation for the Conservation of Coastal birds, SANCCOB cares for sick and oiled penguins.  They are rehabilitated and returned to the sea.  Slowly the number of penguins is increasing.
