We had to communicate in different ways. Of course we phoned people and places to ask for information. We used the e-mail to contact cartoonists about copyright. One girl in our class did an interview by fax, and another faxed President Nelson Mandela.

In the beginning we had to learn all about newspapers and the people who make them. We did not enjoy these particularly much but when we started to write the articles and research the information we enjoyed it thoroughly.

When we saw the outcome of our hard work we agreed that it was well worth the time and effort. We found that some other schools used our articles from the Internet and we were proud of that too.

We all thought it would be a piece of cake, but we were wrong! We soon understood the word "deadlines"!

We had such fun but learnt an incredible amount about newspapers and how they are run at the same time. Nobody was left out and we each had a specific job and were all equally responsible for the outcome of the Newspaper. We had an article all about it in the Tatler, a local newspaper, called "Copy, Coffee and Deadlines" which we all found very amusing!

The schools each produced a unique newspaper. Some newspapers shared stories that had been downloaded from e-mail. The theme of the newspaper this year was concerning heroes which varied from animal to people. The project runs twice a year. Each time there is a different theme. I believe that it was a great success and that it was enjoyed immensely by everyone who participated. It taught us skills for the future, for example how chaotic it can be to meet deadlines.
