Praia, Cape Verde
Praia is the capital of the Cape Verde group of islands. The islands were under Portugese colonial control. The importance lay in Cape Verde's strategic location between the three continents of Africa, Europe and America. It lies about 640 kilometers from mainland West Africa. Its' economy depends on agricultural products like bananas, coffee, sugarcane and castor beans.
