Chobe National Park
The domain of the African elephant, the Chobe National Park covers an area of about 12,000 square kilometers in the northern part of Botswana. Although the park is open to visitors all the year round, travelling can be difficult during the rainy season. There are four public camp sites: Savuti, Serondela, Nogatsaa and Tshinga. Camping is not allowed elsewhere in the park. The wildlife present in this park includes the elephant, lion, leopard, buffalo, lechwe, reedbuck, hippo, wild dog and various antelopes. Visitors need to take precautions against malaria and bilharzia and beware of crocodiles and other dangerous animals.
