To open Outlook click on the Start button in the start up menu, then Programs, then Microsoft Outlook or

on the desk top double-click on the Outlook icon.

The program opens with a window similar to that below.

To hide the Outlook Bar

The Outlook Bar, below, gives access to parts of Outlook not necessary for sending or receiving mail.  To hide it, on the menu bar click on View, then deselect Outlook Bar, and it is hidden. The desktop space available for e-mail messages will be much bigger as a result.
