Microsoft Map - Changing map formats

The Map Control dialogue box provides formatting buttons and column buttons which represent the mapped data.

The map represents data displayed by Value Shading.  It uses gradient colours to show relative data values.

 

  The map displays each region in a different colour.

  The map represents data displayed by the concentration of dots in the particular regions.  The denser concentration represents a relatively greater value.

The map represents data by a symbol, the size relative to the other data. 

To change the format of the map, drag the desired map format over the currently selected map format in the box.

In the respective map formats the colours, shading and symbols can be altered to suit your needs.
